Who owns Paul Newman’s beautiful blue eyes? The Special Edition Wet Brush and Newman’s Own Pro Detangler, launched by haircare brand Wet Brush in December, is a deep blue hairbrush “inspired by actor Paul Newman”.
His daughters Susan Kendall Newman and Nell Newman aren’t convinced. As part of a lawsuit launched in 2022, they are due in court on 20 February to argue that Newman would not have approved of the deal.
Newman left the rights to his image to his Newman’s Own Foundation – the charity originally formed to distribute profits from the actor’s range of salad dressings.
The foundation is now offering the actor’s image for free to companies willing to give profits to childrens’ charities.
The sisters also claim that the foundation hasn’t been paying them an agreed $400,000 a year.
“Paul Newman did not create a family foundation, he did not put his daughters in charge in charge of Newman’s Own Foundation, and he did not provide for the perpetual funding of his daughters’ pursuits,” a spokesperson for the foundation told Tortoise.
If the case fails, chief marketing officer Nicole Malcolm-Manyara anticipates Newman-branded beauty and personal care, consumer electronics, footwear, home furnishings, and home goods. Talk about Hustler.
