These are 2023's 10 best Netflix films according to viewers

A lot of film buffs are ditching the sticky and cold cinemas of yesteryear for the comfort of their own homes and streaming platforms.

Thankfully, thanks to streaming giants like Netflix, movie fans can still get access to some of the best releases of 2023.

The Netflix Bangers Facebook group has had their say on what they feel were some of the best films to grace their phone, laptop and TV screens at home this year.

In no particular order, here are the top 10 films released this year fans said they were most enjoyed on Netflix.

Extraction 2

A sequel to Chris Hemsworth’s sleeper 2020 hit, Extraction 2 was able to win over fans a second time around.

Jawan

Following the global success of RRR in 2022, film fans have begun starting to enjoy more quality films coming out of India, most notably action thriller Jawan.

If you are not quite in the festive mood enough to stick on a Christmas movie yet, then you may want to try this new ‘bone-chilling series’ on Netflix.

If you are a subscriber of the popular streaming platform, and let’s face it who’s not, then you’ll know it can be difficult to know what to put on.

Scrolling through each category on Netflix and finding something to watch is never easy, so seeing what others are talking about online is certainly helpful.

The current talk of the town is The Railway Men – The Untold Story Of Bhopal 1984, which tells the incredible story of brave railway workers who risk their own lives to help others after a deadly gas leak in the city.

An official synopsis for the film reads: “After a deadly gas leaks from a factory in Bhopal, brave railway workers risk their lives to save others in the face of an unspeakable disaster.”

Released on 18 November, The Railway Men – The Untold Story Of Bhopal 1984 is a mini-series consisting of just four episodes.

It stars a bunch of famous Indian actors, including R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon and Divyenndu.

And it of course tells an important side story to the Bhopal Gas tragedy – the world’s deadliest industrial accident.

The short series begins with the hours leading up to the disaster that killed 70 times more people than Chernobyl.

Many have flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide their thoughts, and it’s safe to say they are impressed.

The Railway Men on Netflix. What a chilling and powerful show. Must watch for everyone,” one person wrote.

A second added: “The Railway Men – The Untold Story of Bhopal 1984 is.. bone chilling!”

The Railway Men – The Untold Story Of Bhopal 1984 currently sits at a respectable 67 percent Rotten Tomatoes score following its Netflix release.

Radhika Menon, from the Decider, penned: “While the series occasionally feels overstuffed by characters, its storytelling heart remains true to honoring the men that saved thousands in Bhopal in 1984.”

While Ready Steady Cut’s Jonathon Wilson wrote: “These themes remain prescient since technological advances not only create more ways in which miraculous things can be achieved but also more ways in which things can go calamitously wrong.”

The Railway Men – The Untold Story Of Bhopal 1984 is available to stream on Netflix now.
