Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Oprah Winfrey, and Ellen DeGeneres made a surprise appearance at Kevin Costner‘s charity event for first responders in California. The Hollywood stars attended the “One805 Live” event at Kevin’s Oceanside estate in Santa Barbara to honor local cops and firefighters for their service, particularly during January’s storm that caused evacuations in Montecito.
Kevin and Oprah delivered speeches about the first responders who proudly stood next to them onstage. Harry and Meghan also walked out onstage as they were introduced as special guests. At one point, Harry gave an honorary award to Kevin before the Oscar-winning actor launched into his address.
“It’s great to see Hollywood royalty coming together to support such an important cause,” said one attendee. “It’s a reminder that even the biggest names in entertainment appreciate the hard work and sacrifices of our first responders.”
Maroon 5 capped things off with their high-energy performance in front of a packed crowd. The band’s lead singer, Adam Levine, praised the first responders for their bravery and dedication.
“We wouldn’t be here tonight if it weren’t for these incredible men and women,” said Levine. “They put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe, and we can’t thank them enough.”
The event raised help for first responders
Other notable guests for the $12,000 per-table fundraiser included Katy Perry‘s parents. The event raised thousands of dollars for first responders in the Santa Barbara area.
The event came just days after Kevin Costner’s divorce settlement with his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner. TMZ reported that Baumgartner will receive $63k a month in child support but would have received $12k more if she had settled early on.
Overall, the event was a huge success, raising awareness and funds for an important cause. As one attendee put it, “It just goes to show that Hollywood can be more than just glitz and glamour. It can be a force for good.”
