Michael Caine and Christian Bale are two of the biggest names in the industry. They both know each other quite well after starring together in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and The Prestige. This led the 90-year-old actor to support the Batman star at his worst when he was being questioned for his behavior on the set of Terminator Salvation.

Christian Bale was embroiled in a bad controversy after a recording of him ranting on the set of Terminator Salvation was exposed. The Amsterdam star found himself under widespread criticism for his behavior toward the cinematographer Shane Hurlbut. While several stars had their different opinions on the matter, Michael Caine dived right in his defense.

During a conversation with Craig Ferguson in an episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Caine didn’t hesitate to admit that he had even more temper than Bale. The audience was amused when the star said- “What Christian did was quite pale to what I would do sometimes.”

Sir Michael Caine added that he used to rant for as long as an hour on the set. But he never had to face any public criticism as it never came out. He joked that they might have tried to record his rant but ran out of tape quite soon- “I think they started and ran out of tape”. The Hannah and Her Sisters actor also assured everyone that Christian Bale was a nice person.

Michael Caine’s The Prestige co-star kept his senior’s words as well after he publicly apologized for his infamous rant.

Terminator Salvation was one of the few worst films that was opted by Christian Bale. The actor has primarily been a part of some of the greatest films to date. However, he took a major risk when he tried to prove the people wrong by taking Terminator Salvation despite everyone’s warning.

The movie ended up being a disappointment with a very mixed to negative reception surrounding it. On top of that, it also became a great bad memory for Christian Bale whose meltdown from the set was exposed. After cinematographer Shane Hurlbut interrupted one of his sequences twice to check the light, Bale went ballistic and hurled slurs at him.

Nonetheless, The Dark Knight lead came forward to take responsibility for his actions and apologized (via The Guardian)- “I was out of order beyond belief. I make no excuses for it. There is nobody who has heard that tape who has been hit harder than me.”

Christian Bale and Shane Hurlbut never worked together again on any project following the 2009 sci-fi flick. The movie also proved to be a forgettable venture and the only takeaway from the movie was this highly infamous incident of Bale.
