Madonna, 65, says it’s a “miracle” she’s alive after shock health scare
Madonna has revealed shocking details about her alarming health scare earlier this year, claiming it’s a “miracle” that she’s alive today.
The Queen of Pop was forced to postpone part of her worldwide tour after being discovered unresponsive at her home on June 24. She was rushed to hospital with a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in ICU.
Not long after word of her illness spread, a relative of the Grammy-winning artist told Entertainment Tonight that her family had been “preparing for the worst”.
“For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst,” they said.
“That is why it was kept a secret since Saturday,” they added. “Everyone believed that we may lose her, and that has been the reality of the situation.”
At the time, fans of Madonna were naturally worried for her health, though were largely kept in the dark as to just how serious her condition was. The singer herself posted to Instagram to thank people for their love and support, but not much was known regarding the finer details of her hospitalization.
Now, however, Madonna has decided to speak out, revealing that reports suggesting her life was in danger were not at all far off the mark.
While on stage for her show at the Barclays Center in New York on Saturday, Madonna said it was a “miracle” that she’s still alive.
“The fact that I’m here right now is the f*****g miracle,” she said.
“There are some people in this room tonight that were with me in the hospital.
“There is one very important woman who dragged me to the hospital… I passed out on my bathroom floor and I woke up in the ICU.”
