Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are an iconic Hollywood love story — with a modern Hollywood family.
The actors have a blended family of six. When reconnecting on the set of 1983’s Swing Shift — Hawn and Russell first met as a 21-year-old and teenager, respectively, during the filming of The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band in 1966 — Hawn was already the mom of daughter Kate Hudson and son Oliver Hudson, whom she shares with ex-husband Bill Hudson. Kurt, for his part, was dad of son Boston Russell, whom he shares with ex-wife Season Hubley. While Hawn and Kurt have famously never tied the knot, they completed their family in 1986 with the birth of their son, Wyatt Russell.
In 2019, Kate and Oliver recalled the first time their mom brought Kurt over to meet her children. “Mom said that’s when she fell in love with Kurt,” the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery actress told her brother on their “Sibling Revelry” podcast. “Because she brought him back to the house and we had already been asleep, and we shared a room, and he sat down next to each of us, he sat down next to you first and watched you sleep and then came by.”

Goldie Hawn
Prior to her relationship with Kurt, the Overboard actress was married to her first husband, Gus Trinkonis, from 1969 to 1976, and then to her second spouse, Bill, from 1976 to 1982. Hawn and Bill welcomed son Oliver in 1976 and daughter Kate in 1979.
Hawn and Kurt have frequently been asked throughout the decades why they’ve chosen to not get married. Hawn, for her part, told Loose Women in 2015: “If you have independence, if you have enough money and sense of independence and you like your independence, there’s something psychological about not being married because it gives you the freedom to make decisions one way or the other.” She added: “For me, I chose to stay. Kurt chose to stay, and we like the choice.”
Kurt Russell
While watching Hawn audition for The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, Kurt — then just a teenager — was instantly smitten.
“I thought she was awfully attractive. You couldn’t miss her,” he later recalled to Variety in March 2023. “She just had this energy about her.” However, the pair didn’t get together until 17 years later. The Hateful Eight star was first married to Hubley from 1979 to 1983, welcoming son Boston in 1980.
“Kurt is extraordinarily brilliant and creative and collaborative,” Hawn gushed over her longtime partner to Variety in March 2023.
The pair have starred in multiple movies together, including their ’80s hit comedy Overboard as well as the holiday classic The Christmas Chronicles and its sequel, in which Kurt portrays Santa and Hawn stars as Mrs. Claus.
Oliver Hudson
Oliver followed his parents’ footsteps into the industry, scoring his breakout role on Dawson’s Creek from 2002 to 2003. As the Black Christmas actor continued to make a name for himself on TV — with starring roles in Rules of Engagement, Nashville, Scream Queens, And Just Like That and more — Oliver also built his own family. He shares sons Wilder and Bodhi and daughter Rio with wife Erinn Bartlett, to whom he’s been married since 2006.
Kate Hudson
Like other family members before her, Kate found great success in the spotlight — scoring an Academy Award win for her role as iconic music fan Penny Lane in 1990’s Almost Famous.

Kate, for her part, recalled the “big moment” when meeting both Kurt and Boston for the first time. “For me, it felt like such a big moment because it was like, ‘My mom is madly in love with this guy.’ For me, at the time, it was like, ‘Is this going to be my dad?’” she asked on her and Oliver’s “Sibling Reverly” podcast. “And I was meeting his son [Boston] which meant, ‘Does this mean that this is my brother?’ It was a lot to handle at such a young age.”
Wyatt Russell
Wyatt is Kurt and Hawn’s only child together. Not only is the actor the perfect mix of his parents, he is yet another member of their brood to get bitten by the acting bug. Wyatt has made a name for himself apart from his famous parents and siblings, with starring roles in 22 Jump Street, Overlord and The Woman in the Window, as well as the Marvel miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the true crime series Under the Banner of Heaven.
Wyatt and his wife, Meredith Hagner, also expanded the Hawn-Hudson-Russell brood even further with the 2021 arrival of their son, Buddy. Wyatt announced in November 2023 that he and Hagner are expecting baby No. 2.
