Céline Dion Makes First Public Appearance in More Than Three Years

Céline Dion has been out of the public eye for three-and-a-half years, but to the delight of fans, she made a rare public appearance at an NHL game Monday evening.
Dion, 55, revealed last year that she has been diagnosed with a rare neurological disease known as Stiff-Person Syndrome, which causes muscle spasms that can be debilitating and even violent. The spasms can be strong enough to break bones, according to the Stiff Person Syndrome Foundation.
“Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life,” Dion wrote in a 2022 Instagram caption announcing that she would be postponing her
tour dates. “Sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”
Amid her ongoing health struggles, it’s been nearly four years since the “My Heart Will Go On” singer was spotted out in public.
Dion took in a hockey game in Las Vegas between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Montreal Canadiens, accompanied by her three sons, René-Charles, 22, and 13-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson. The boys’ father, Dion’s husband René Angélil, passed away in 2016.
She posted photos of herself and her children on Instagram, writing, “My boys and I had such a fun time visiting with the Montreal Canadiens after their hockey game with Vegas Golden Knights in Las Vegas Monday night. They
played so well, what a game!!”
Her tour is currently postponed until 2024, with an unnamed source telling People in May that Dion is working hard to be healthy enough to perform again.
“It’s heartbreaking that she has had to cancel touring but she is suffering mobility and other issues from the disease disrupting her daily life.”
“She is doing everything she can while working with doctors because she wants to perform,” they said. “She has not given up at all. She is hoping to get all of the issues with this disease under control so she can sing again.”
