Blue Bloods star Reveals ‘Emotional’ Final Scenes was Filmed in a Cemetery
EXCLUSIVE: Abigail Hawk, who plays Abigail Baker on Blue Bloods, has opened up about filming her final scenes ahead of the CBS show’s return for its final eight episodes. In an interview with Screen Time, she shared that her last day on set took place in a cemetery, alongside other cast members, though she teased, “I’m not giving anything away.”
Hawk characterized the filming process as bizarre, acknowledging that it was impossible to completely comprehend the outcome in the moment. “It was almost like being so close to the fire that I can’t actually experience how hot it is,” she told me. Reflecting on the bittersweet departure, she remembered the clapping and tears when the cast finished, especially when executive producers Kevin Wade and Siobhan Byrne O’Connor hugged her after the final scene.
The actress spoke fondly of her longtime co-star Tom Selleck, noting how significant it was to witness his enduring career, with the Magnum P.I. star still bringing so much to his iconic role. Hawk also praised Len Cariou, who recently performed in the play Tuesdays With Morrie, demonstrating the vitality of older actors in the industry.
Hawk expressed pleasure with the outcome of the finale, despite keeping the specifics under wraps. “It’s beautifully simple and ordinary,” she told me. After reading the script, she said, “I wept… It’s a very fitting way to end the series.”
The actress left fans with a hint of the emotional nature of the finale, revealing that her tears may have been a mix of both joy and sadness.
