WILL GO ON! Celine Dion to make comeback at Paris Olympics opening ceremony after halting tour over Stiff Person Syndrome battle
CELINE Dion has touched down in Paris as she’s rumored to be performing at the Olympic Games.
The singer arrived at the luxurious Royal Monceau hotel on Monday, according to Variety.
Rumblings have circulated that Celine, 56, will return to the stage for the first time since her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis on Friday to perform during the opening ceremony.
Celine and her team have kept specific details about her possible performance under wraps.
The entertainer is also staying at the same hotel as another potential headliner – Lady Gaga.
This comes two years after Celine revealed her health issues and has been keeping a low profile out of the spotlight.
SPS is an incurable condition that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms throughout the body.
Medication and physical treatment can make the disorder more manageable, which has been Celine’s primary focus.
BACK AT IT
Last month, she released an Amazon Prime documentary I Am: Celine Dion, which gave fans a deeper look into her debilitating battle with the disease.
In the documentary, she also opened up about feeling heartbroken that she couldn’t physically sing and perform like she once did.
Shortly after, The U.S. Sun exclusively learned that Celine had been secretly practicing for upcoming performances in Las Vegas.
Sources said that Celine will likely perform at the Resorts World Theatre in November, around the same time as the Las Vegas Formula One Grand Prix.
They also said she’s been rehearsing with musicians and voice therapists for the last few months.
The 70-minute shows will be a compilation of her greatest hits.
However, insiders revealed that they are prepared to postpone those shows to a later date if her health problems get in the way.
They explained that concert promoter AEG would stage the events with a “short run at first” to see how she fares with the challenges of performing live.
Celine’s health and wellbeing comes first,” the source told The U.S. Sun. “But at this moment, a November return is the focus, and then anything beyond that will be discussed after that run.”
Celine’s last performance was in Newark, New Jersey, on March 8, 2020, during her Courage world tour.
She was forced to cancel the tour due to the Covid-19 pandemic, though her SPS disease has kept her off-stage since.
The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed that Celine’s decision to return to performing was prompted by the star’s ” visions ” about being back behind the microphone.
An insider shared that Celine has been “manifesting her comeback – asserting her will with her body.”
Celine also told friends that raising awareness about her SPS has helped her cope with the disease and has been a motivating factor for her comeback.
