Cindy Crawford turns 57, leaves fans without words with no-makeup selfie
Cindy Crawford is a name I’ll always associate with beauty and grace.
The famous American supermodel turned 57 years old a few days ago, but it’s a no-makeup video she posted to her Instagram that’s got people talking.
Unsurprisingly, there were plenty of comments regarding Crawford’s seemingly age-defying beauty, though there were a number of eagle-eyed fans who also spotted a few other points of interest…
She was among the most popular supermodels of the ’80s and ’90s, and an ever-present figure on magazine covers and in large-scale fashion campaigns. Put simply, Cindy Crawford epitomized beauty for a good many of us who were alive during her hey-day.
Indeed, when she was chosen as the cover model for the August 1986 edition of Vogue, their decision not to airbrush the beauty mark above her lip changed the game in many ways. If nothing else, it made a statement regarding the ridiculous and outdated notion that the blemishes and marks that make us unique are things that must be hidden if we’re to be perceived as conventionally beautiful.
Today, Cindy remains extremely easy on the eye – even a casual glance at her Instagram page will remind you of her stunning natural beauty.
Cindy recently turned 57, but it would appear that Father Time has some work to do if he’s to catch up to the model and actress.
Yet though the vast majority of the content she puts up on social media depicts Crawford as we’re used to seeing her (impeccably dressed and always camera ready), a recent selfie video uploaded to her Instagram page appears to show her in a different light.
The video in question, captioned “Baby hairs in the sauna” shows Crawford with no makeup on whatsoever, and fans were quick to jump on a number of details.
“The most beautiful woman of all time,’’ one person commented, while another wrote: “She’s a beautiful aging woman❤️”
There were other aspects of the video that drew the eye, though. One commenter asked where her trademark beauty mark had gone, pondering: “Where is your iconic mole?”
“You look so different 😍,’’ another admitted, with a third adding: “OMG didn’t recognize you😮’’
The supermodel has spoken candidly on the subject of aging before, telling Haute Living that she doesn’t want to be known as “ageless”.
“It puts too much pressure on me,” she said. “I know all the ways that I’ve aged. My face has gotten much thinner; my mouth isn’t as full. Being told I’m ageless isn’t right.”
She continued: “I’m not 25, so why should I be trying to look 25? Why do I want someone to mistake me for a 25-year-old? I’ve had children. I have all this life experience.”
Indeed, I think that’s something we can all agree on. I don’t know why society continues to place this pressure on women to look young even as they grow older, but I’m thankful for individuals like Crawford who aren’t afraid to confront it.
What do you think? Are you a Cindy Crawford fan? If so, wish her a Happy Birthday by sharing this post on Facebook.
